In 2015 Google announced that websites, in addition to looking good on a desktop or a laptop computer, they also had to be responsive to people surfing on their mobile phones and tablets. This was a first encouragement for people having websites to start enabling these features. Earlier in 2016, Google made a major modification in their search result algorithm favoring websites that have adopted these changes into being mobile responsive. These websites will now show higher up in the search results compared to businesses who have not yet made the necessary modifications.
